In April our focus turns to moksha or self-realization, as Saturn and Ketu, both planets of detachment, travel closely together in Sagittarius. This brings a minimalistic approach to life. Feisty Mars also aspects Saturn and Ketu, adding some friction. Jupiter, planet of spirituality and prosperity, spends the entire month of April in the gandanta degrees between Scorpio and Sagittarius, generating lessons in finance and defining our true values. What does my birthday mean astrology woman. Both Jupiter and Saturn turn retrograde this month, while the Sun and Venus transit their exalted signs. We are challenged to keep an open heart and stay balanced, despite any outer chaos we sense in the world.
The nodes of the Moon, Rahu and Ketu, changed signs recently on March 23, 2019, as Rahu moved to the sign of Gemini, while Ketu shifted to the sign of Sagittarius. They will remain in these signs until September 21, 2020. Ketu, the south node of the Moon, now travels with Saturn in Sagittarius the rest of this year until January 23, 2020, indicating this combination is a major influence in 2019.
Saturn and Ketu teach us detachment and letting go, with the emphasis on spiritual growth. We are asked to reconnect more consciously and deeply to our spiritual center. This combination of Saturn and Ketu may motivate us to downsize materially, letting go of excess or the superficial. We reevaluate what constitutes a good life and uncover what brings us real happiness. We feel more unsettled if we are out of integrity, as Saturn requires honesty. Finding ways to create outer success without sacrificing your inner peace is a priority this year. Deeper commitment to your sadhana or personal practice is also suggested.
From April 21 to May 1, we experience the first of three exact conjunctions of Saturn and Ketu this year, which occurs at 26 degrees Sagittarius. We may feel unexplained pressures or uncertainty. In addition, the planet Mars, which is transiting the sign of Taurus, influences this Saturn/Ketu conjunction in Sagittarius the whole month of April through May 6. On May 1, all three planets (Saturn, Ketu, and Mars) are either at 26 degrees Sagittarius or aspecting that degree. We can experience increased frustrations, or a push/pull energy with Mars in the mix. These are challenging aspects, so be more observant the last half of April and through the first week of May. Be patient and mindful, and learn to respond to life more positively, rather than over-react out of fear.
Jupiter’s transit in April is quite extraordinary as it briefly transits Sagittarius, goes retrograde, and also travels through its gandanta or “spiritual knot” degrees during the entire month. This is a pivotal month of breaking old tendencies or ancient karmas revolving around Jupiter’s significations, while Jupiter is gandanta. We can experience reversals or surprises financially, politically, or with our educational institutions. Be very clear, practical, and realistic with money issues. Major spiritual breakthroughs are possible.
Jupiter transits its own sign of Sagittarius briefly at 0 degrees, from March 29 through April 22. In addition, Jupiter will begin its retrograde phase at 0 degrees Sagittarius starting on April 10 through August 11, 2019. While Jupiter is retrograde, we revisit old opportunities, important lessons, and wisdom gained from our past experiences. We can review previous plans or projects that we may wish to revive once Jupiter goes direct in August. This is a time to acknowledge our “inner abundance.”
On April 22, Jupiter then goes back to the water sign of Scorpio until November 4, 2019. While Jupiter is 29 degrees Scorpio from April 22 until May 8, 2019, it is still gandanta, and may indicate the healing process needs to go even deeper psychologically in order to break difficult patterns and habits. It is time to be more discerning and make conscious and caring choices on what you allow in your life.
Venus and the Sun both shift to their exalted signs within a day of each other, and these transits can help us maneuver through the challenging energies this month. The Sun transits Aries, its sign of exaltation, from April 14 to May 14, 2019. We feel empowered, ambitious, and confident. Aries energy is self-initiating, active, enthusiastic and passionate. On the challenging side, we can experience impatience, anger, and frustrations. The Sun is the planet that represents our connection to our innermost essence, so this is a positive time for meditation and the practice of self-inquiry. You are developing a firmer foundation and a more solid sense of who you truly are.
Venus, planet of love and the arts, transits its exalted sign of Pisces from April 15 to May 9, 2019. This brings a longing for more compassion, kindness, and peace in our world, as we want to transform the suffering and challenges we see all around us. It may be easier to forgive, as we sense the importance of releasing the burden of the past. In addition, we enjoy being creative and self-expressive as Venus rules the arts and beauty. Watch for over-indulgence and have proper boundaries. See the beauty around you. Devotional practices are highlighted, as Venus rules the path of Bhakti Yoga.
At the end of April, Saturn, planet of equanimity and focus, turns retrograde on April 29 until September 18, 2019. This is a time to gather inner strength, be more self-responsible and disciplined, and let go of any self-defeating behavior. Saturn retrograde can bring up issues of self-doubt or limitation to be healed and transformed. Don’t be hard on yourself, but develop greater patience and neutrality. Spend time in nature, and take time for silence and solitude.
